Harnessing the Inventiveness and Expertise of Children and Adolescents to Co-Create Possibilities

Description

Children and adolescents have a keen sense of imagination, which is a valuable resource we can tap to co-create possibilities. They also can serve as excellent family system’s consultants to us for where to intervene and with solution construction. In this presentation, I present creative ways we can use art and the inventiveness of children and adolescents for goal-setting and co-developing high-quality solutions. Finally, the use of questions that tap the expertise of children and adolescents as change agents for their families are discussed.

Who this is for

Mental health professionals who want practical tools to:

  • Move away from rigid diagnostic models
  • Integrate systemic and narrative thinking
  • Make therapy more contextual, accessible, and change-focused
