Overview
Cultural competence is a start—but having that sense that someone “gets You” is a skill that we are capable of infusing our sessions with for our clients. In this workshop, we’ll move beyond theory and into real, everyday strategies for making therapy more inclusive, responsive, and effective. Learn how to center identity, values, and lived experience in every session without relying on assumptions or checklists.
You’ll discover how to:
- Integrate cultural, systemic, and relational context into your case formulation
- Ask better questions that open up stories and narratives NOT stereotypes
- Collaborate with clients in ways that honor their worldview and voice
- Move from “what’s wrong” to “what’s important”—in culturally meaningful terms
- Make multicultural work a natural part of your clinical process—not an add-on
Who is this for?
This training is for therapists who work with diverse populations and want to deepen their cultural responsiveness in a grounded, practical way. It’s especially helpful for those working in community mental health, schools, cross-cultural settings, or with clients navigating issues of migration, race, class, gender, or faith.
