Gonzalo Bacigalupe

My first degree is clinical psychology obtained at the Catholic University of Chile together with a post degree in family therapy in Santiago. Soon after I obtained a doctoral degree in consulting and counseling psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where I worked with many of the original creators of the field. For two decades I directed the family therapy program at UMASS Boston and later in my career I obtained a degree in public health at Harvard University. I truly believe in an ecosystemic and integrative approach in couple and family therapy specializing in work with couples. I have taught and worked as an individual and couple therapist utilizing online tools early on and home outreach as a methodology to work on an intensive basis with couples in crisis or with those living abroad. I also believe in a collaborative framework, sometimes an individual or couple needs one long session to resolve an impasses, at other times a longer session, or conversations that occur on an intermittent basis. Finally, I do intend to work with the best of each person, with the exceptional dimensions we each have and that allow us to move forward independent of the problems that have us stuck. I provide services in English and Spanish.
